Not all hotels are created equal. There are some hotels that redefine what it means to travel and what hospitality looks like. Let's look at 4 of the coolest hotels in the world so you can get a better idea of what we mean. There’s always something special about staying in a hotel, isn’t there? There’s something about knowing that everything’s taken care of for you: cleaning, room service, concierge… the list goes on.  It’s also true, though, that certain hotels are a cut above the rest. From 5-star dining to specialized rooms to expensive spas, high-end and interesting hotels are entire experiences themselves on the side of the trip you’re taking! In this post, we’re going over 4 of the coolest hotels in the world. You’re going to have to resist whipping out your credit card to book a vacation after you’re done reading this article! 1. 21c Museum Hotel in Louisville, KY The 21c Museum Hotel, as you could probably guess, is as much an art museum as it is a hotel. There are Museum Hotels like this across the country, but the one in Louisville is our favorite. It was also the first one of the chain making it the matriarch, so to speak. It goes without saying that the 21c Museum Hotel has some of the best hotel art you’ll see anywhere. From contemporary pieces to multicultural art series to sculptures to video, this museum has it all. And the hotel side of this museum is nothing to scoff at, either. It’s earned numerous awards including the #1 Hotel in the South by Condé Nast Traveler in 2019. The rooms themselves are modeled after high-end residential condos and apartments with clean minimalism as the main theme. Some of the rooms have extra features like exposed brick, custom-designed furniture, and quality bath amenities.  All rooms also include a Nespresso machine, WiFi, a plasma screen TV, and, of course, original and unique works of art in every room. It is a museum hotel, after all! 2. Manta Resort in Zanzibar, Tanzania  The Manta Resort is located on a beautiful tropical island that’s a part of Zanzibar, Tanzania. The entire resort is gorgeous and surrounded by turquoise water, beautiful beaches, tropical excursions like sailing and snorkeling, and much more. However, the reason that this amazing and luxurious resort has made our list of the coolest hotels in the world is because of its special Underwater Room. Also called the floating hotel, this 3-story lodge is literally a floating room in the middle of the ocean.  The bedroom itself is fully submerged underwater. It’s also surrounded all the way around with windows, you’ll be completely immersed in the tropical ocean. You’ll get to fall asleep surrounded by coral, fish, dolphins, and maybe even some sharks. If you love the ocean and want a unique, once in a lifetime experience, you need to book the underwater room at Manta Resort! 3. Treehotel in Harads, Sweden Going from sea to the air we have the Treehotel in Harads, Sweden. This quirky hotel has a number of different tree houses scattered around the calm and beautiful woods of Harads.  Each “room” is a different shape. One looks like a descending UFO, another like a bird’s nest, and another that’s made to camouflage and reflect light to appear completely integrated with the natural surroundings. From your rooms in the trees, you’ll be completely one with nature. You can see wildlife up close and personal, the Northern Lights lighting up the sky, and more. Go for walks in the forest, go fishing in the nearby lakes, find wild berries, and more with this completely cool and unique experience. 4. Kelebek Cave Hotel in Goreme, Turke Hundreds and hundreds of years ago, the volcano known as Mount Erciyes covered the Goreme area with tons of ash.  This created large formations of what are called “fairy chimneys”. Looking like something out of Dr. Suess, these towers of ash mixed with water and other debris have been used by people as shelter for centuries. The caves inside have become chapels, homes, places of worship, and, now, a cave hotel. The Kelebek Cave Hotel has 36 rooms carved directly into the fairy chimneys of ash. The rustic and natural walls are offset with luxurious king size beds, fireplaces, balconies, and terraces.  From the terrace, you can watch gorgeous Turkish sunsets, hot air balloons drifting lazily along, and sip on delicious Turkish coffee.  There’s also a Turkish bath, a restaurant, bar, and nearby excursions.
